How to set up mobile Wi-Fi hotspot?
How to set up mobile Wi-Fi hotspot? And how to get better internet speed?
Many people are still working from home. And proper Wi-Fi connection is required for smooth working. However, many users are unable to set up Wi-Fi at home with high Mbps plans. Many of you may want to use mobile data as a Wi-Fi Hotspot. But don’t know about connection process and how to get better speed on connected device.
People also sometimes need a good, reliable internet connection. But most people hesitate to use public Wi-Fi. Because they are not safe. In such case you can rely on your smartphone here. There are several ways to turn your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot, which also determines the speed you’ll get.
Set up Wi-Fi hotspot on Android phone
Setting up Mobile Hotspot is very easy. You just need to go to Settings > Wi-Fi & Network > Hotspot & tethering. Now, tap on Wi-Fi Hotspot and enable it. Users are advised to add Wi-F Hotspot password. This way, no one will be able to use your hotspot for free. You can also tweak the network name and security type as per your preference.
The easiest way to enable this feature is to tap on the Hotspot icon. You will find the notification panel at the top of your phone when you pull it down. To turn it off, you can tap it again.
Set up a mobile hotspot via USB or Bluetooth
Apart from this, anyone can also set up a mobile hotspot using their Android phone’s USB cable. There are chances that this feature won’t work for some users if their Android device doesn’t support it. This is one of the best ways to get a good Wi-Fi connection. For this, you need to connect a USB cable to your laptop. After this, go to Settings > Wi-Fi & Network > Hotspot & tethering > USB tethering. You don’t need to do anything else. It gets the connection by itself. Anyone can follow the same process to use Bluetooth tethering.
How to get better Wi-Fi hotspot speed on other connected devices?
People get better and faster speed with USB cable. It depends on which generation of USB-C charger you are using. Many smartphones ship with an older USB 2.0 cable. It offers transfer speed up to 480Mbps. The new USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 offer up to 5Gbps and USB 3.1 Gen 2, up to 10Gbps.
Note: If you are planning to buy a newer USB generation cable for faster data transfer and charging, note that the older device you are using may not support it.
Hotspot option offers higher speed, but not as fast as USB. Wi-Fi has two frequencies. And under your phone’s “Hotspot & tethering” settings you will find 2.4GHz and 5GHz as two options.
5GHz offers higher transfer speeds. and up to 1.3 Gigabits per second (Gbps). However, when you turn on Hotspot on your phone, it automatically selects 2.4GHz and you have to manually tap 5GHz to get the best speed.
If you try Bluetooth tethering, your device will consume more battery life. And you won’t get as much speed as you would with other options, because it’s quite slow. Another advantage of USB is that it can also charge your smartphone.
