Your cell phone battery is depleting so quickly?

Why does the smartphone battery run out quickly?

And here’s how to fix the problem.

It’s safe to say that smartphones are our new best friends these days! Our lives, in a sense, revolve around them and we have come to the point where we can’t stop using them. Although smartphones have new features (both hardware and software), they have some problems, battery drain being one of them.

Even though battery sizes and charging capabilities have improved, at some point or the other, we have to face a situation when our smartphone starts losing charge quickly despite being fully charged. So, why is our smartphone battery draining so fast? Here are some reasons why this happens. How can you fix them for this? There are solutions to that. So, read on to know more:

Before we continue, here’s how to check your battery usage:

Why is your smartphone battery draining so fast?

There are a couple of reasons why a smartphone battery starts draining fast:

1. Smart Phone Display

This is considered a primary cause of battery drain. As display panels keep getting better, so does the amount of battery the display eats up. While a more bright and vibrant display helps improve the viewing experience, it is more draining on the battery and thus drains the battery faster.

How to fix it?

For this, you can try a couple of workarounds and see how much it affects your battery life:

Try using the smartphone in low brightness

There is an adaptive brightness feature that increases or decreases the brightness of the display according to the surroundings. Try to enable it.

If your smartphone supports higher refresh rates (90Hz or 120Hz), try setting it to a lower level such as 60Hz.

Set a shorter auto-lock time so that the display does not have to be active for longer

Avoid using live wallpapers. If your display is AMOLED, go for a plain black wallpaper so that it doesn’t activate the pixels.

2. Apps (especially in the background)

While apps are crucial on a smartphone, they are equally crucial in degrading a smartphone’s battery life. Among the millions of apps available, there are some apps that work more battery like video streaming apps or high graphics games. Additionally, too many running in the background will also quickly kill your smartphone’s battery life.

How to fix it?

Try to keep an eye on your app usage and try to reduce unnecessary usage of the apps you have.

Try to keep only useful apps on your smartphone and avoid downloading unnecessary ones

You can stop apps running in the background by going to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Select app > Advanced > Battery > Background restriction > Block.

The camera app eats up another battery. So, try to click less photos and videos.

3. Fluctuating network

If you are wondering how this is a reason, you should know that the smartphone is always looking for nearby towers to connect to so you don’t face network issues. Hunting increases when there is a poor connection, which is why it affects the battery.

How to fix it?

Switch to airplane mode when you don’t need to use much of your mobile data or phone. This forces your smartphone’s antenna to rest.

If your network is really the problem, you can try switching to a different one.

Try investing in network extenders or signal boosters so that you get better networks and your battery doesn’t suffer.

4. GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi

Connectivity options such as GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi also affect your battery and overuse of them leads to faster battery drain. You can turn off these options when not needed.

5. Other causes

You can try keeping your smartphone at normal room temperature as opposed to a cool place as cold can affect your battery. Additionally, update your smartphone regularly so that performance (even battery performance) improves.

We hope that the reasons for fast battery drain and how to fix them will help you keep your smartphone battery healthy.
