How to Find Your Router’s IP Address?

How to Find Your Router’s IP Address?

What is your router’s IP address and how can you access its settings? How can you find a router IP using a device in your hand?

While your router’s IP address isn’t a need-to-know piece of information most days, there are times when you need to keep it handy.

For example, you may need to change settings on the device through its web-based control panel. And while this information is fairly simple to obtain, many people aren’t sure where to start—especially when it comes to different operating systems.

Whether it’s on your PC or mobile device, here’s how to get your router’s IP address on different platforms…

What is my router IP address?

While some routers use text-based URLs, many use an IP address that you can use in your browser to access the device’s admin panel. In this panel, you can change settings, install firmware updates, troubleshoot problems, and configure your preferences.

Many routers on a private network use a default IP address of 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. If your router does not use these specific default addresses, it will still use one starting with 192.168.x.x.

However, the only way to know your router’s IP address for sure is to check it directly through a connected device, such as your computer. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck typing in all the variations of common router IP addresses until you get it right.

It may take some time

Finding out what your router’s IP address is is pretty simple, but the steps differ depending on the OS of your PC or mobile device. See our short tutorial below on how to get this IP address on various platforms…
